Antsiranana or Diego Suarez is an old colonial port located inside the 2nd largest natural bay in the World which can be best discovered by joining our optional 1/2 day tour. Time will be spent to discover monuments of the ancient colonial times such as the old market, the former Hotel de la Marine, the old military market and of course the vibrant market. Antsiranana / Diego Suarez is also the gateway to the Amber National Par – Amber Mountain. During this optional full day tour you will discover a tropical forest , volcanic lakes, waterfalls such as the Sacred Waterfall – All at an altitude of 800 to 1,400 meters and of course a rich fauna such as Mongoose and Lemurs. -Overnight in port |

DIEGO SUAREZ / NOSY HARA Early morning departure for Nosy Hara, sailing around the Northern tip of Madagascar Mid day arrival in Nosy Hara. The island is part of a 12 island archipelago. Nosy Hara is inhabited and is now a WWF protected marine park. The island is a perfect example of the unique Malagasy ecotype, with striking limestone formations eroded by the sea and wind. The island is home to the almost extinct the endemic Madagascar fish-eagle who is almost as large as the American bald eagle. Late evening sailing to Sakatia -Overnight at sea |

NOSY SAKATIA This morning we reach Nosy Sakatia – Orchid Island – an un-spoilt island inhabited by a population of 300 spread in 3 villages. Our optional half day excursion will discover the hilly area of the island and its lush vegetation of exotic trees as well as its fauna which includes the smallest chameleon in the world ( 1 to 11/2 cm long) Overnight at anchor |

NOSY SAKATIA / NOSY IRANJA Early morning departure for Nosy Iranja Iranja Island is in fact made up of two islands – Big Iranja and small Iranja connected by a bank of white sand, which is submerged at high tide. Iranja is home of a small community of fishermen and of the endangered Green and Hawksbill turtles which lay their legs there. The coastline around is also home to humpback and bottlenose dolphins, whale sharks and of whales in August. The island has a quaint lighthouse once designed by Gustave Eiffel. Overnight at anchor |

NOSY IRANJA / NOSY TANIKELY / NOSY KOMBA Early morning departure for Nosy Tanikely Nosy Tanikely is a tiny island surrounded by patches of shallow coral and sandy beaches. The only inhabitants are the occasional day tourists coming from Nosy Be island and the famous giant fruit-bats or flying foxes. The island is a marine life paradise with coral reefs. Thousands of fish and occasional humpback whales can be seen at any time due to amazing underwater visibility. This is a morning at leisure for amazing snorkeling swimming or diving. After lunch we sail to nearby Komba Island. Early afternoon arrival at Nosy Komba (Lemur Island), a small / round shape volcanic island with a peak culminating at 600m. Komba’s population lives in Ampangorinana, along the northern beach. The other inhabitants are the 5,000 black lemurs – sacred and thus safe from any danger – which are adorable and far-from-timid animals. Our optional afternoon excursion will allow you to visit the island. Afternoon at anchor. |

NOSY KOMBA / ANKIFY NOSY BE Early morning departure for Ankify, a port on mainland Madagascar. The quiet port of Ankify is our gateway to the Ankarana National Park, offering dramatic landscapes in this unique region. Our optional full day Ankarana Park excursion will allow you to discover lush forest home to primates such as crowned, brown or black lemurs. Heavy erosion has resulted in creating striking landscapes of grey limestone spires (as opposed to the red Tsingy found in the north). Cave labyrinths are home to bats and to the world’s only known cave-living crocodiles. We return to the ship and sail to Nosy be. Evening arrival in Nosy Be. Overnight in port. |

NOSY BE Nosy Be or Big Island in Malagasy was first occupied by Swahili and Indian traders and is now Madagascar’s best known resort destination. Nosy Be was once called “Nosy Manitra”, island of perfumes and when we land in Nosy Be you will quickly understand why : Ylang ylang, coffee, cacao, vanilla and sugar cane plantations spread all over the island and distil a balmy fragrances that will delight your senses. Our optional Nosy Be half day excursion will allow you to visit Hellville – named after Admiral Hell – with its vibrant life and old colonial mansions before discovering smaller villages with Indian and Arabic influences. You will see teak and Ylang Ylang plantations before reaching Mount Passot culminating at 340 m and offering spectacular views of the island. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in port. |

NOSY MITSIO The Mitsio Archipelago is a collection of 12 small islands 40 nautical miles of which La Grande Mitsio, is the biggest and the only one which is inhabited by farmers and fishermen villages of Antakarana and Akalava. While sailing into the archipelago, you will see bottle nosed dolphins and green turtles but the arrival is even more breathtaking, as you slowly navigate amongst tiny tropical islands, lush with tropical vegetation and dotted with powder-white beaches. It is known for its huge basalt columns, resembling organ pipes. Our optional half day excursion will feature a climb up the highest hill on Nosy Ankarea (219m), which will reveal spectacular views of the entire archipelago. We will also meet local fishermen and hear of their traditions. After our beach BBQ, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the sea and coral reefs one last time before our farewell dinner under the stars. Overnight at sea to Antsiranana/ Diego Suarez. |
